The Heart of Darkness from the Perspective of Environmentalism

Abstract:At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, one of the famous writers Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) got his reputation by some of his representative works including Lord Jim, Typhoon and Heart of Darkness. His most famous novelette Heart of Darkness enjoys very important role in the history of British literature. It is also a milestone along the development of modern novel. This paper reflects the relationship between human bEings and natural as well as the relationship between nature and science in this world-known novel from the perspective of ecological criticism and promotes development that is harmonious and sustainable. Here also further try to discuss the realistic meaning of this novel.
