We all have secrets, as Tess does. I guess, most of us keep our secrets in order to not get hurt. We tuck the secrets into cocoons, let it be a burden in our hearts. But Tess, the poor country maid, driven by her pure heart, confessed. Tess’ confession seemed to have been the silliest thing in the whole world. Revealing the awful secret, she could never be the pure country maid again, which she once was. The most terrible, Angel, Tess’ dearest, abandoned Tess for a long time merely because of her confession of the awful past. Tess seemed to have lost everything and finally lead an almost tragic life. I once thought it’s a pity for Tess to confess. But when I closed my eyes and imagined—what will life be if Tess had never mentioned her past?
