提 要：英语不定式和-ing分词的区别在于它们包含着人对客观世界的两种不同的认识：主观意义和客观意义。两种语义是人类认知活动概念化的结果。英语不定式和-ing作同一成分时的区别由不定式的主观性和-ing分词的客观性决定。本文以英语不定式和-ing分词的语义研究为案例，揭示两种形式传承的人类思想，即语言的灵魂。
